Ok it depends on the state and department rules. I've rode trucks many times to out of town drills and once on a call. It all depends other things too. Like on a volunteer station like mine we have every type of truck basically except a ladder truck. So different apparatus require different things. Like an engine or engine tanker require so many certified firefighters. Where as the rescue truck only requires an EMT. A lot of different factors.
