i have a 2008 and yesterday i found out my car had a broken axle is the driver s side is that makes a difference. anyways every time i put it in gear it just shakes and wont move is that because of the axle?
More than likely. The CV axle transfers drive from the differential to the wheels via a spiralled sphere attached to the wheel hub and several small rollers that slot into the spirals and spin the whole joint, turning the wheel. If the CV axle is broken then that wheel won't be getting any drive from the engine and so will be being pulled along. You have a 1-wheel drive car :D
Any attempt to drive it will do more damage and cam have a catesprophic failure. This needs to be done immediately. The cheapest option is to fix it before more damage is done.
Yes, that's the end result of a broken axle. The axle is what transfers the rotation of the engine to the wheels. If it's broken, the wheel doesn't move. Because of the differential, if one axle is broken, then neither will move.
