A properly operating car alarm uses very little current, but if it is acting up it could cause problems. Car batteries last 3-5 years, generally speaking.
Alarms use very little power. They will take at least 2 months before they run down your battery. A new battery will last 3 to 5 years. If the battery goes dead before this time and you did not leave the lights on, your alternator may be having issues.
under normal conditions, the life of the house then some. There are 2 places in my area where there is something in dirt that corrodes copper, but that's not normal. I would use copper over anything else.
Copper should last a life time. I'm in the midwest and about 90% are copper and 10% PEX (new plastic) When copper went through the roof this summer, most plumbers switched to PEX.
