I‘m thinking of putting a metal surface on my kitchen counters. Does anyone have experience or information? Thanks.
On some of my old cars I have had luck with STP injector cleaner or it could have just been the placebo effect but for newer cars I don't think it's worth it. I think it is more of a marketing gimmick. They are just detergents that don't do much. I think that the detergents that are in the gas now will be more effective at cleaning as it it constantly going through the engine whereas a bottle of cleaner put in your gas tank will be a short one shot deal and won't do much.
You'd really just be wasting your money by using it, Most fuel (modern fuel) already has all that stuff in it to keep the injectors clean etc. But for the odd time, Maybe once a year or whatever to be safe, Ask the Seller, They would be able to reccoment the best one suited to your car and year.
with both, I'd have concerns metals can migrate to foods although not specifically toxic, Cu and Zn both can reach toxic levels with adequate exposure further, the tops themselves might suffer Copper will oxidize at the drop of a hat, let alone juices from citus, vinegar, etc
Copper is very reactive and will be discolored by both acids and bases. It will also cause some foods to discolor and effect their taste. Galvanized steel is a coating of mostly Zinc. It is intended to protect the steel inself and not anything on its surface. Actually, the Zinc is meant to oxidize slightly (i.e. discolor) in normal exposure to the environment. In case of food products, the zinc will have a similar effect as the copper although to a lesser extent. I would be most concerned about the zinc coating chipping off over time and getting in your food. It will not only look terrible but be a physical hazard. I assume that you are considering putting sheet metal over your countertops. The only practical choice is a quality stainless steel (300 series or 18-8). I say quality SS because the lower grades (400 series, 17-4, 15-5) will actually rust over time. SS is more expensive than the galvanized sheet but a bit cheaper than copper. Good Luck!
You really don't need fuel additive for a gas engine if you keep the tank full
