No. Steamers should not set off a smoke detector unless the detector is intentionally covered. A clothing steamer should be fine to use without setting off your detector. Happy steaming:))

Water is only useful for class A. And there are some chemicals that only work on B and C. There are several kinds for class D, not all of which work on every type of metal. There is also class K, which refers to cooking oil. Technically it's a subset of class B, but there are special extinguishing chemicals that are designed to be easier to clean off of cooking equipment, but may not work on other liquids.
