Question:

Windows/Fans that don't let in any light?

I'm writing a story where someone is kidnapped and held hostage in a warehouse. The captor doesn't want to let the captive tell how much time has passed, so I was thinking if there were any fans or windows that could completely block out light. I was thinking about a fan that's linked to an air vent but I was wondering if it'd be enough to keep the captive alive in the room and if light may seep through. Also, the captive will be able to tell night from day by the temperature, right? I was wondering if the captive should be dumped in an air-conditioned room, but it seems kinda off in a situation like this, y'know, that you're placed in a room with air-con and all.But the captor loves the captive a lot, and doesn't want the captive to die from like the heat or something. Would it be logical then (air-con)?What are your thoughts?

Answer:

I would think so. The fact you are in a gated community does not it any less of a fire hazard.
YES, but only if there is a lot of smoke like in a bar or a club and you don't want to smoke very close to it
The workers don't smoke the cigarettes that they make!!! Have you ever bought a pack where the cigarettes had all been used? I wouldn't like that. There's no smoke in cigarette factories, or if you prefer, as much as in any other factory!
