Question:

Windshield wiper arm not working?

I noticed I needed to replace wiper blades so I did. However the driver side still wasnt wiping. I was told it was likely the arm so I replaced that as well. But it still isnt working. Nothing seems loose, could something be bent internally to where the blade isnt pressing hard enough to move away water?Anyone know how to fix it, or where I might take to find out? I live in Pierce County, Wa. Rain season is on its way and I cant see when Im driving with this problem! Also my truck is a 2001 Chevy S10, if that makes a difference in parts or repair.

Answer:

Check your fuses. Or it could be that the motor running the wiper is not working any more.
Have you tried to determine what the acceptable levels are for occupied space. In addition to the magnetic fields generated around a conductor might want to see what radio frequency levels are also. If you are concerned ( I would be) look for a shielding contractor to have a survey done to measure Gauss fields as well as RF levels. They will be able to tell you if you are at any risk according to current standards make recommenddations to remedy situation. An official report by a certified engineer can be used as leverage to have the condo management. correct the situation . You should not have to bear the expense of shielding yourself from a potentially harmful situation . Used to work for a medical imaging co. Operators of MRI, Xray other devices are responsible to contain protect surrounding occupied spaces from any emissions from their equipment. Hope that helps.
Unfortunate for you, those power lines running directly under your floor. I know that foil does an excellent job on ordinary cables for TV's . It is only a single wrap and a steel ground shield around that and does a very good job on this product You can buy foil sheet by the roll, it has two sides of aluminum foil and a center of polyproplene. The material comes in 10 foot wide and costs about 18 cents a sq foot. It is used as a reflective insulation in building construction. A source on line is RadiantGuard, 11244 Old WorksDr. RiscoTX 75035 They have a website. On steel galvanized sheets, those come in variety of sizes and can be purchased at steel supply houses and Heating and Cooling supply houses. The cost is about 40 cents a square foot for this.
im thinking that on s10s they have an internal spring that holds the arm firm to the windshield. that spring could be the problem. if not, it could be the wiper itself.
You have whats called a wiper module!!!! The front wiper module is secured with screws through two rubber grommet-type insulators to the cowl plenum panel. The module is located in the rear of the engine compartment where it is concealed beneath the molded plastic cowl plenum grille panel. You can try calling the dealer to see if they will have the needed bushing and or rubber grommets but if not then you will need to buy the complete unit.
