I pretty much just got a car, and dont know too much about them. What kind of windshield wiper blades do I put on my 1994 Camry (coupe)? I only need to replace the rubber right? And about how much are they?
The blade is the metal springy part with the rubber in it. Do yourself a favor and don't mess around with department store stuff which never fits like OEM parts. If your Camry is 13 years old you need to replace the blades. They couldn't have enough spring left to properly hold the rubber (which, by the way, is called a refill) against the windshield. Go to your Toyota dealer and buy new blades for your car. They should cost less than $20 for both blades, including tax. In a couple of years you can just replace the refills. The blades will last a few years and the new ones will make your wipers work like brand new. It's nice to be able to see where you're going in the rain, right? Good luck.
Usually, just replace the blades every second change, if they make just the rubber insert for your car (this can't be done onn many cars these days) - and the whole thing on the between changes, since the bit that holds the rubber wears out and gets loose after a while. Expecty to need new ones every year or two, depending on how dirty you let your windshield get, and whether you park outside or in a garage (the dirt acts as an abrasive and wears the rubber out faster, and UV light makes the rubber perish.) As for what kind - it doesn't really matter, as long as it attaches correctly. Just remember that you generally get what you pay for, so skip the really cheap brands, and don't waste money on the real expensive ones, either. Trico or Bosch are usually just fine - and make wipers for just about every car on the market. Good luck!
Go to your local auto parts store and they can advise you what you need. Blade rubber usually cannot be replaced and the whole windshield wiper price runs between $7-15.00.
