Question:

Windshield Wiper Chatter?

My windshield wipers make that chatter noise when they are turned on. I tried Rain X and followed the directions, but that just made them worse. Any ideas on how to make them stop doing this? The blades, old ones and the news ones, both make this noise. I adjusted them too, but nothing seems to work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Answer:

Make sure that the wiper arms are not binding/rusted at the spring pivot point. The arm should spring back fast when released. If it binds, spray WD-40 on the pivots until they are soaked. Then lift them and release them as many times as it takes to make them snap back. Don't buy cheap blades. The Bosch Icon blades cost more but mine are 4 years old and still work great. They don't freeze up with snow and the small wing/foil which is built in keep the blade on the window at high speeds.
Not enough spring tension from the arm to hold the wipers to the window. The arms may be a part you would need to order from the dealer. When you pull the arms away from the windshield, is there much resistance?
This has to be a troll, what wipers cost $90?? Wipers for all of our cars cost $10 a pair, $20 for the really good ones. Get a product called rainx, it's for your windshield, it coats it so water beads off, and makes it slick enough where wipers wont squeel going over it.
