Question:

Windshield wiper fluid help.?

Since winter was on the way and Baltimore can get pretty frigid, I bought some windshield wiper fluid with the de-icer added a few months ago. I put it into the car right away. Oddly enough, we just had the first snow of the season this morning, but my lines still froze and I couldn‘t use the wipers at all. No fluid could come out and of course any moisture that made contact with the windshield just made a sheet of ice.How do I overcome this? I have a ton of driving to the the next few days and can‘t afford to be slowed down by this issue.

Answer:

you forgot to flush out the regular blue water from the system, eh? best bet is to go into a heated parking garage, let it warm up to temp, turn on the engine hit the wash button for a while to get that old fluid out and the newer fluid w/ de-icer into the hoses. or let the engine warm up the lines enough for you to do the same thing i mentioned
Make sure you bought the winter formula washer fluid and did not get the summer formula that is left over still in stock on the shelves and will freeze. The bottle does say which blend it is on the label (in smaller print)
Never heard of them sounds like some cheap junk tire.
I had this happen once. There was some ice in the plastic line connecting the reservoir to the wipers, I squeezed it and that helped melt the ice, and it worked again. It may help if the car runs for a while, and the hood gets heated up. Your defroster should be able to melt the sheet of ice on your windshield. I hope this was helpful.
