Question:

windshield wiper motor?

i have a 83 olds delta that is missing the factory windshield wiper switchwhich is to say the least hard to find. as it is a cruise control, blinker, and wiper switch in one i have decided to run the wipers to a seperate toggle though in doing this i copuld not find any power source hot wire with a test light. which led me to believe that the power is not even ran to the motor, as im sure the fuse is in good condition. i then removed the wiper motor only to find that the main drive gear or (whatever the actual moving mechanisim is called) willl not turn at all when tried by hand. so to the question.i have now bought a new wiper motor (without a delay) and was wonder if i could hook it directly to the battery through a completely seperate fuse and to the toggle. and how would this be done. which wires would i have to splice in order to run power and ground?

Answer:

Good luck for you, friend.
Hi there first you will need three wires for wiper motor, one feed from ignition circuit which covers the wiper parking circuit to motor an earth wire and a wire running to toggle switch, the other side of the toggle switch will run to ignition circuit do not use battery circuit as it could cause you a lot of problems Jock
