My friend has a 1997 Hyundai Tiburon and her wipers stopped working today. Wondering if anyone has any ideas to try to fix them before we go out and buy a new wiper motor.
lift the hood. grab on to the wipers. move them back and forth. make sure all the arms are attached, all the way back to the motor. remember if its all hook you should not be able to move the wipers. 16 yrs ASE cert. retired
might help to be conscious of what your utilising. If wiper motor has rubber grommets the place you connect with automobile would desire to have a floor strap related, take your try mild positioned bring about socket with ability and different end on motor if lighting fixtures furniture floor ok. if no longer restoration. don't be conscious of activate sprint or steerage column. Take a twine and floor it and touch to different touch on motor no longer the flexibility one, if wiper works i might say change undesirable. If no longer achievable def. motor.
check the wiper arms thats hooked to the motor, they might have popped off. if you can see down to the motor, make sure its working back and forth, the coggs in the motor might be stripped out.
If you can hear the motor running, then the motor is OK and don't be wasting money buying a new one. If you can hear the motor, first pry off the round plastic cap at the pivot point (bottom) of the wiper. Now run the motor and look to see if there is movement under that cap. If there is, then the bolt you see is loose and needs to be tightened. If the motor is not running, get out your owners manual and find the part that tells you where the fuse box is located and which fuse is for the wipers. Check that fuse and replace, if needed. If neither of above work out, see a mechanic.
Are you sure the problem is with the wiper motor? Could be something else entirely. Do some troubleshooting to find the real problem before you buy ANY parts to fix it.
