My car is a GMC Jimmy 1998. This problem happens after car is warmed up after cools down wipers will work agian
The first thing I would do is apply power straight to the motor from another source like the battery. It shouldn't burn it out since that is what it is made to take. 12v that is. If the motor works then I would say you have a problem in your switch. If two things fail that are operated by the same switch always check the switch. It won't necessarily blow a fuse or rely. SOUNDS LIKE THE WIPER MOTOR IS FAILING,THEY SOMTIME DO THAT WHEN GOING BAD. DISCONNECT THE MOTOR AND TRY A DIRECT POWER SOURCE TO THE MOTOR WITH A JUMPER WIRE FROM THE BATTERY AND LET IT RUN A SPELL, TOUCH THE MOTOR, IT SHOULD NOT BE VERY HOT. IF IT IS THEN THE MOTOR IS GOING BAD!
Not sure but I think there was a recall for GM wiper motors in that age range. You can call any dealer and give them the VIN and they can tell you if there is any open recalls on your vehicle.
