Question:

Winter Tires?

Is it better winter tires to be wide or thin. I mean the surface that comes to contact with the snow, for a better grip, on snow and ice.

Answer:

Go in the ladies room and dampen your slip or hose. That will help for a while. I always used to keep a can of Static Guard in my desk drawer to help avoid zapping myself and my computer and prevent the clinging hug of my dresses and some pants in the winter.
A product called static gaurd. They even make it in a purse size bottle. Also rub a bounce dryer sheet on your legs and dress. You can put one in a zip lock bag for your purse also. I use the unscented ones so I don't smell like a bounce!
Use a Wire Coat Hanger and run it up and down your dress this will remove static in a pinch Good Luck !
The best traction comes from tyres rated with the snowflake symbol. M+S tyres are a slight improvement over all-season tyres in snow and ice, but can't hold a candle to true snow and ice-rated tyres. Get the proper size for your car as recommended by your tire shop or dealer.
a narrow tread will dig down thru the snow but a wider tire will give you more surface area, get a tire that is the proper size for the vehicle and get them studded or buy tires that are siped or have them siped, also some tires are formulated for winter use with different tire compounds and rubber mixes
