Question:

With Power Of Attorney can I cash bonds at any bank?

I have Power of Attorney for my mother. There are some bonds we want to turn in. I tried at my bank and the lady asked if my mom has an account there and I told her no. At that point she wouldn't cash them for me. Should I be limited to cashing bonds only if my mom has an account there and if so why?

Answer:

2 separate issues. The fact you have permission legally to cash them does not mean you meet the requirement of the institution to agree to cash them at all. Stick with HER banks
