Wizaired Cold Air Intake Question: Rain Season?

When it rains, do you have to remove cold air intakes like Wizaired or KN? I want to get a Wizaired intake, but i don‘t know if you have to remove it during rainy season. Southern California. Does anyone who has one know? Can they fill me in on the pros and cons? Do‘s and Don‘ts? Thanks.

Answer:

yes you can use plumbers putty ,but if you are raping tape around pipe 3 or 4 times clockwise or 5or 6 times it should work good done it a million times never had any trouble
I used liquid teflon for many years. It's a bit pricey but is ok for gas or water. Don't get it on your clothes though as it is nearly imposable to remove.
I use pipe dope and teflon together. I usually have no problems. Make sure you are using enough teflon. I wrap it around clockwise at least 12 times. It may look like overkill but it works for me.
cold air filters have been proven to be fakes for the most part, buried in the fine print is the fact that the claim to making horsepower numbers is at wot or wide open throttle. Honestly,? who runs around town, foot to the floor trying to save gas, and improve horsepower? No one I know. Always call your trusted mechanic and ask him what he thinks. Some high performance engines, may see an improvement, but once again, most people don't have a 500 hp motor under the hood. Those power chips ? same thing, for the most part there is no proven gains or better gas mileage, in fact in both cases, engine lights have popped on and in some cases (particularly diesels which did have big hp numbers, the motor blew, so that ended the chip test.) For most stock cars and trucks there is little to gain , and a motor to lose. Save your money the risks outweigh the benefits.
