Threaded pipe is cheaper to install compared to welded pipe as treads are already cut on the pipes and only a coupler is to be put in place with some sealant for the screwed surface . Wlded pipes need the joiny preparation / welding at site and in some cases radiographed for soundness. Allthese makes installation costlier .
