Would using electric blankets at night be greener than using heat during the winter?
the plastic it self will last longer than you or me.your probably on the right track with replacing the washer. also, if it gets tightened too much, it can crack.either way a new piece and washer(s) are very inexpensive.
Congrats on your new bike. My first suggestion is that safety is your first and foremost issue as a rider, always. When you buy your gear, think what is the real value. A helmet is as valuable as the head it is protecting, so I always recommend not to save a few bucks in something that can save your life . And the same goes for gloves, boots, etc. etc. My sister gave his husband state of the art gloves, with kevlar and carbon fiber pads. He was grateful, but told her, honey this are really expensive!. She said, well, you are a surgeon and your hands are one of your most valuable assets. Your not riding anymore with your crappy inexpensive gloves. Having said that, there is a quite a range for all the good quality stuff, so do some research before buying. There are many sites with consumer reviews on safety gear. Spend some time to read about other riders experience with them. Here?s some example. There is quite a lot of chinese made crap. It is cheap but definitely sub-par. Avoid it.
