Question:

hard physics problem please help asap!?

The suspension system of a 2000 kg automobile sags 9.7 cm when the chassis is placed on it. Also, the oscillation amplitude decreases by 58% each cycle. Estimate the values of (a) the spring constant k and (b) the damping constant b for the spring and shock absorber system of one wheel, assuming each wheel supports 500 kg.for a i got 20.2062 and 505514.46and for b i got 441.53 and 5829.82all are wrong, please help!

Answer:

500 kg - 4900 N 9.7cm - 0.097 m so k F/x 4900 / 0.097 5.1 * 10 ^ 4 N/m This is NOT the same as the second answer in line 1. Firstly you are out by a power of ten and secondly you have used excessive numbers of significant figures. Note that this relies on assuming something that isn't stated. If the chassis is DROPPED on the springs it has kinetic energy and the springs would compress further than if the chassis was LOWERED GENTLY onto those same springs. I have presumed lowered gently
I do not nderstand what it is that you have. What's coming out of the wall?
Maybe a piece of hose and 2 hose clips would do the job ?
confusing problem. query on to a search engine. that will may help!
