Question:

What exactly do chevron and shell add to their gasoline? Is the so called additive really worth the price?

Is it?

Answer:

It's all hype. Buy cheap. The oil companies own the US.
I'm told by a knowledgeable source that Chevron's (Techron) is an effective additive.
Trust me. I drove a gasoline tanker for a time. There is no difference in the brands of gasoline. Even the additives are basically all the same, the different companies just call them by different names. The only actual difference is in the color of dye used. When loading at the tank farm I waited in line with tankers from every major gasoline company. What is different is how persuasive their advertising works on their customers. Some people will swear that their car runs better on X brand of gas. It's all in their head because they want to believe. Just buy the cheapest gas you can find, and your car will run just fine.
