Question:

Why does my Service Engine Light continue to stay on?

I just bought a used 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD. The service engine light was on and they (i took it to auto zone) ran the diagnostics check on it and told me that it was the EGR Valve. They said first take it off and clean it with intake valve with carb cleaner and a wire brush. I did that and it came back on. So the next step was to buy a new EGR Valve. I went back to autozone and bought one, came home, and put the new one on. the light was off only for about 10 mins then it came back on again. However when i had the old EGR valve the light would go off every now and then but then it would always come back on. Im not sure if there is a short in any of my wires or what else it could be. What should i do next?

Answer:

did you take the blazer back to auto zone to have the code reset after replacing the egr valve the code of the old one will stay in the system until it is erased
soyou crashed your car, and the Insurance has taken care of all of it, so thats done, right? Do you feel guilty that your old car might be jealous that you are looking for a new one? Your old car is dead. he doesnt care.Go car shopping.
from time to time when you get gasoline and dont tighten the cap each and each of ways that gentle will come on, even however alongside with your vehicle having 50k it must be something like the sparks plugs. maximum great chain vehicle area shops would have a gadget that they'd plug in on your vehicle for unfastened and it basically takes some mintues. they'd factor you in the splendid course by potential of having a code style and finding it up in a e book, thats the place i could start up, till you nonetheless have a protracted guarantee.
It could just be the sensor. Get it checked again now that you have the new part on. Or you might have a different problem that caused it to come on. (lol, one car I had, the engine and abs light would come on after a hard rain.) Resetting it like that should fix it then. See if that works. If not, it might be the sensor. Edit: If the light is still on after you tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery, you might need to have it reset or replaced. And you really shouldn't do that with newer vehicles. You can mess up the other computers in newer cars. You can use a scanner and reset it from there.
get your dream car lol that will take ur mind off the accident lol get a new car ull be alright
