Question:

12.5 tires on 7.5 wheels?

can i put 35‘‘ x 12.5 tires on 17x 7.5 wheels

Answer:

insufficient information to answer. You have provided tire outer diameter and width, but not the diameter of the rims they are supposed to fit on (ie 15,16,17, 18, etc) 7.5 inch wide wheels are a bit narrow for 12.5 tires, I would go with 9 wide rims.
The tire manufacturers recommend at least an 8.5 inch rim for 12.5 inch tire. For years the rule I used for the optimum rim width to tire size was for the rim to be about 2 inches narrower than the tire section width- in this case around 10 inches.
