During the 90 probationary period, they can fire you with or without reason. Being pregnant would be a stupid reason, and I'm sure they would make up something else. If you're doing a good job, they shouldn't want to fire you anyway. For the sake of an answer, wait until the 90 days is up. Then if they fire you, it had better be for a darn good reason.
first guess is it is not burning cleanly second guess is something is blocking the exit pipes (chimney) - like a bird's nest ?? a strong wind down the chimney can push some of the burned gas smell out into your room.
It is not normal for heating unit to emit gas odour, it is dangerous to the point that an explosion could occur. Call your gas company and tell then, they mat send a technician over right away. Do not delay as you may have a very dangerous situation. CO detectors will not detect the gas.
