Question:

2 types of suspension design (cars) help?

we took in college 2 types of suspension system design,,,,,,, 1- macpherson suspension2- strut suspensionbut when i search on the internet i find macpherson struti dont find each one alone,,,,, they are togetherare they 1 one type or 2 combined different types?

Answer:

There is multi-link suspension and it can be controlled by either a coil spring and a shock absorber or by a coil over strut type shock assembly (Macpherson Strut). The advantage of the multi-link is the geometry of the wheel assembly it controls. There is also a stadard type suspension that entails upper and lower control arms with coil and shock absorber to control the ride rate. and a straight axle suspension, usually used on larger vehicles and gives an undesirable ride in the comfort dept There is also IRS (independent rear suspension) and it uses struts mainly.
