2000 Mustang transmission issue?
1. Check and record transmission fluid level. If low, fill with MERCON (R) V Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) (XT-5-QM, or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON (R) V), to the proper level and check for leakage. If a leak is the only concern, call the toll-free number prior to repair. 2. Check the harness connectors for proper installation at the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) if equipped, Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor, and Transmission Connector. 3. Perform EEC system Quick Test and record all codes. 4. If no fault codes are present, go to Step 5. If fault codes are present, perform the required Pinpoint Test in the 2000 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Service Manual for any fault code received. Repair all non-transmission codes and verify if the transmission symptom still exists. 5. If the transmission symptom exists, install the New Generation Star scan tool and follow the appropriate output state control instructions to determine if the concern is internal to the transmission. 6. If transmission requires service, call Ford Motor Company toll-free at 1-800-5510692 (U.S. and Canadian Dealers only). Do not disassemble any transmission prior to calling this number. All diagnostic information must be recorded before calling Ford Motor Company (fluid level, EEC fault codes, transmission tester results, transmission concern, and transmission I.D tag information).
find what wire it is that goes to ur fuse box that controls ur alarm and pull it out or better yet pull the alarm out, it will be under ur hood and will look like a air horn, cut the wires and make sure u seal the wires then, solder or use electric tape
remove the ground wire. it should be obvious where it is grounded to, usually a self-tapped screw in the firewall. Although my ground for it is on the complete opposite side of the alarm itself, it is still obvious. Follow wires themselves, or just find where the control box is connected, and cut the ground wire.
check the transmission fluid.
Both the GT and V6 Mustangs used the 4R70W in 2000. You will need one from another V6 though. do switch the tranny will i have to switch the axle thing that rotates the rims too?/ No offense, but if you're asking about the axle thing then you probably aren't qualified to do anything more mechanically demanding than filling up the fuel tank. You're probably going to want to get an actual mechanic to handle the transmission swap.
