i have a 2002 for escape which is stuck in reverse.I went to put it in park this morning and it is still reading as if it were in reverse but the keys are able to come out of the ignition which is making me think that the column shifter is reading in park but the transmission is not any one else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Just get a really good rear view mirror.
Check the control cable at both ends and their attaching brackets.
