Question:

2004 Chevy Blazer CLANK Noise?

Hi my blazer makes this loud CLANK sounds like you‘re tapping 2 pieces of metal together when my blazer is off and just sitting their with no keys in it also when I have the blazer running and the CLANK happens the lights dim and this CLANK could last for almost an hour on or off, any ideas please would be much appreciated thank you!

Answer:

HI, Not sure about the clank while driving but when its shut off you are most likely hearing the exhaust cooling down, good luck tim
If the suspension system has worn struts, shocks, strut bearings or ball joints, you will have a clunking noise. These can all be fixed by simply replacing the damaged part. The steering system will usually make a clunking sound will traveling over bumps in the road. If so, check the fluid level and add if it is low.
Are you sure it is not a clicking noise? A weak relay switch or one with a short circuit will make a clicking noise. Most likely it is the capacitor or the “blinker” for the signal lights but it could be any of the relays but that would be my first guess.
