Save your money. Anytime a car alarm goes off in any parking lot, people just walk by and no one cares or does anything about it. A friend of mine had one, and it went off and he couldn't get it to stop, so he opened the hook and disconnected it from the battery. All the while, other people were walking by and not one person questioned him about it. People don't care about your car, only their own. So if you are not around when your car gets broken into, an alarm isn't going to do any good. Unless you can find one that doesn't set off an audible alarm, but pages you with a beeper you have on you at all times. Then you can run out to the car with a baseball bat when the pager goes off.
If you have xp,it is not a big deal at all. Chances are you probably have a rollerball mouse right now. The ball is on the underside of the mouse. There is a plactic ring that holds it in place. All you have to do is take the pointer finger and middle finger and place it on the sides of the ring and twist counterclockwise to unhook the ring. The ring and ball falls out. Take the rubber ball and place it in the palm of your dry hand and place your other dry hand on top of the ball and roll it between your hands. This will clean the ball of fine microdust and make the ball more sticky(not that you can feel it, but it does). Then if you look inside the mouse where the ball came out from you can see if there is any large amount of dust in there. Simply blow it out with your mouth(no spitting) Reassemble the mouse. It should work better. If you are determined to get another mouse, get it, then power down your computer(whether that be with the off button or pull the plug from the wall. Disconnect the old one. Connect the new one. Turn computer back on and wait. The computer will see it has new hardware and will talk to it automatically, and ask you if this is what you want. Yes, yes, yes.Good to go. You are a pro.
