Question:

about a year ago i purchased 17' dc-112 gloss black rims and i have just lost my lock?

that lets me lock and unlock my lug and i also need a spare rim and tire but i come to find out that the website i purchased it from is no longer available and my rims are now discontinued what can i do other than get new rims?

Answer:

No you don't use anything on them. That is why those are made, once compressed they are a seal. Using anything extra will cause a leak and then they can't do what they were designed to do.And mrwizard is right ,you can't use those on gal. pipe they wouldn't work. Maybe that is why it leaks?
Bunt buildings are structurally unsound, so you don't want people in them because they could get hurt, If it just been sitting for 10 years and then a sign popped up, someone probably just bought it to do something with the property and wants to keep people out to avoid liability. I wouldn't be surprised if they start new construction.
Most hommocks are much smaller diameter cords. The reason is because one must use many knots to tie the various strands together to create a diamond pattern. Using the same techniques with retired climbing rope would create large knots that would be quite uncomfortable to lay on. Most people use retired ropes for rugs. I've seen flat coils and tied flat knots. I have a 70m pink dynamic that I will flat coil for a rug in my young daughter's room when it is retired. You could also cut them up into smaller lengths (6+ ft) and donate them to local scout groups. I've given retired ropes to family members to have in their cars during winter season. It came in handy when he was driving up to MN by himself and slid off the road. A guy in a truck came along and they used the rope I gave him to haul him out. If you have a gear room or closet, putting eyebolts into the studs and running rope through them would be another way of organizing your gear rather than having everything stuck in bags, boxes or totes. I have small kids, so we used one of my retired ropes to build a rope swing in the back yard. So you have options. I found a youtube video once upon a time for how to tie your own hammock quite quickly, but cant find it right now. I stumbled upon it by accident so unfortunately, I cant find it right now. -Good luck
