black mail her back, record the conversation telling her that you want to stop and don't want her saying anything to your wife and owning up to her black mailing. then once your done putting it on tape what she is doing, threaten to take it to the police. she is doing worse then you are, the police will have a field day with this and a laugh, at least it will stop and hopefully wife wont find out,but who are you kidding, best to tell her yourself, she is going to hit the roof, also look back and laugh that you got yourself in this mess. maybe you shouldn't be with a wife if you can't keep it in your pants, lesson learn ed..
Here are a few good ones: Soldiers of '44 - William McGivern It Can't Happen Here - Sinclair Lewis When the Legends Die - Hal Borland I'm not sure if this is on the list, but if it is, read Killer Angels. It's a good book. It's about the Civil War, though, so that might not be the time period you're reading about.
I really liked It Can't Happen Here, it's the last good book Sinclair Lewis wrote before he succumbed to alcoholism.
