I completed a new addition using ceramic Tile It was a rust reddish color and I grouted it with Black Grout. I then sealed the grout. Now a year later the Tile is Really Dull (but really doe not look shabby) and the grout, instead of being black looks like grey dirt. Is there something that I can do to bring out the beauty in the Tile and improve the looks of the grout. PAINTING ? WAXING, ???? BUFFING DOES NOT HELP. and IF so What products do I use, I tried clear Paste Wax on one tile That does not last or work right !
Is the dullness caused by water spotting and moisture? Use muriatic acid to clean it and remove all the residue--and the paste wax!! That was not a good idea--paste wax should not be used on tile or grout because you will just end up with a coating of wax that will attract mold and turn white or gray. there are commercial tile grout sealers that will preserve the color and the integrity of the grout. You can't paint it or apply a waxy product to it. You need to clean it with the muriatic acid, then seal the grout with the sealer--then NEVER wax it again.
One thing you might try is something I discovered quite by accident when I was bored and reading the label for a scratch remover I bought for my car-it's called Gs/27 and you would find it in the automotive section, on Amazon it's sold as Beautyko GS27, and they have a lot of similar products. Anyway, the product claimed to polish sliver, brass and gold and to remove scratches on appliances, laminated wood, and to polish ceramic tile to a beautiful finish. You apply a small amount and it dries and you rub it to a shiny finish. It does work, and got India ink stain off my bathroom tile-I didn't try it on grout. If you have an applicator it would be a lot more practical-my bathroom isn't huge, but doing all the tile by hand would be daunting and then you'd need to apply some sort of sealer before you cleaned it again. But it would work. I agree with the gentleman who recommended you clean the paste wax off before you do anything else, and recommend you speak to the friendly guys in the orange aprons about how to revitalize your grout color.
