ceramic seems to be coated/finished, and directions say i can use permanent marker.i‘ve looked elsewhere for answers but all i‘m getting is use enamel. i have some spray paint, maybe i could make stencils, but even then i‘d have to leave it out for 21 days OR have a crazy oven. im not even sure if oil paint would work? should i even trust the mug? i got it from a dollar store, it‘s create a mug brand or whatever.thanks! :-)
Umm, ive never come across that before, but I guess you can use primer, then paint it. You'd have to let it dry longer than usual, though.
There's a product called Marabu Ceramic Paint which will probably do the job. You might get away with acrylic if the mug is used purely as an ornament (which I admit is unlikely). The mug will be glazed, meaning that it has a thin layer of glass all over it. This will be the case even if it doesn't look shiny, because unglazed pottery is porous. Normal acrylic won't stick well enough to glass to stand mug-type heat and handling.
