Question:

Advice on cleaning my carpet?

I haven't vacuumed my carpet in over 2 months and its really dirty. I know its disgusting but I hate this flat so much and I rarely come here, just to sleep. My room mate has a vacuum but its a standing up one and I hate those which is why I hate doing it plus my room is small and has a lot of stuff in it (huge walldrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, bedside table, 2 person sofa, storage boxes, 2 chairs). Anyway we have mice and I put down sticky pad things and I found what I think is silverfish on it so I REALLY want to clean it properly now. Should I buy a carpet cleaner? I heard using vinegar but I'm not sure how. How would you go about cleaning it? should I just vacuum it continuously for like 10 minutes lol? And yes I know its gross but I'm really lazy.... don't judge me =/

Answer:

Trap or poison the mice, two people died last week from hantivirus somewhere in california, I believe. go to a supermarket and rent a carpet cleaning machine, use very little soap as soap residue is hard to remove, when left in the carpet it becomes a sticky dirt attracting magnet.
in case you have already contacted a criminal expert for this, i might stick to his advice. once you go away a condo, ask the corporate to do a stroll via on the time you go away. Take photos of the home finding great to back up your tale.
I would completely empty the room use a good vacuum to clean it out thoroughly you might want to go over it a few times, if it still seems dirty buy or rent a good carpet cleaner and remember to follow up with a plain water or a low concentrated vinegar solution after shampooing with soap so you do not leave soap residue in the carpet
Move everything out, vacuum the entire room of dust and debris, and buy some powdered carpet cleaner that you just sprinkle on the carpeting. When it dries, vacuum up all the residue, then move everything back in. Don't use vinegar. It will soak into the carpet and you'll have to wait hours and hours for it to dry before you can vacuum again, and then it will still smell like vinegar. If the carpet is still dirty after the treatment, you might want to rent a carpet machine from somewhere and use a water-based cleaner--but again, vacuum first, clean next and wait until it dries thoroughly, then re-vacuum.
