Question:

All of my smoke detectors are going off at the same time. I called the fire dept. (there is no smoke/no fire)?

They said it was due to old batteries and changed them. They said if it continued I needed to replace the smoke detectors. House is 10 years old. It stopped for maybe an hour, going off again. I am freaking out. They said it wouldnt be some sort of short in the wires or whatever. I just dont want to wake up on fire. Help.

Answer:

I believe it's the fire department that can answer that one too! Although, if it's just one of those small kitchen extinguishersthey sell for next to nothing. I would suggest that you just replace it in that case.
Some detectors sense smoke (cooking can do it) and others sense heat. Check to see if you have one too near the stove or fireplace.
