Question:

Are ideal heat exchangers/regenerators isentropic?

Given an ideal heat exchanger or regenerator, i think ideally it should be adiabatic, but is it also reversible (internal and/or external?) causing it to be isentropic?

Answer:

ideal heat exchangers are never adiabatic nor they are isentropic... heat exhangers follow a reversible isobaric process ideally..
