Question:

are tires aftermarket?

Just wanted to know if tires are considered aftermarket? I dont want anything special just replace old tires

Answer:

There are many makes of tires that have sizes to fit your car, but I have found that it is best to stick with the brand of tire your car came with new. The reason being, the tires the Mfg. installs on the car are engineered for the best ride and noise abatement for that particular car.
"Aftermarket"=Parts not built be the Manufacture of the Car (In the car of cars) and therefore that makes Tires (Even the ones on the Car when you bought it) Aftermarket.
Aftermarket are broad-line tires not made for the car manufacture and depending on the model, they can be better quality than the Original equipment tire that came with your vehicle. There are many quality tire manufactures like Michelin, Kumho, Toyo, BFGoodrich, etc. Have a little fun and do some online shopping!
After certain times of year, yes. After February or March the tire companies "switch" to aftermarket standards. Which is why tires don't last as long if they are not from the factory. Those are the times they produce tires for the car manufacturers.
All tires are considered after market to an extent. After market means a product that is made by another factory other then the original factory that first built it...... If you need tires check the yellow pages and call for estimates.. WALMART doesn't have the best deal on tires the wanted to charge almost double what firestone charged,, Their poster price is advertised cheaper but by the time they add all the other charges mounting, balancing, and valve stems they actually cost more so check around,,, If have a PEPBOYS or a Discount Tires around you check them out.
