Question:

Axle Bearing Seals for a 1956 Chevy Truck?

I am trying to locate a set of Axle Bearing Seals for a totally original 1956 Chevy Apache Pickup Truck. It has a 235 Six Cylinder Engine, and a 3 Speed Manual Transmission. No local Parts Stores carry them. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Answer:

BEARINGS, seals for: axles, clutch, differential, pinion, transmission, wheels, all years. Olcar Bearing Co, 135 James Creek, Southern Pines, NC 28387, 910-693-3324.**26-YR** I got the front seals for my Frazer from them. A Chevy should be no problem.
Shakespeare said something about spotting. I never knew if out damn spot was a dog thing, or clay staining.
You're absolutely right Jo-Jo! That's what I was going to tell him.However.had the gentleman asked for seals for that axle out of any 1/2 ton GM axle up to 1970,he might have found it. Dealing w/older vehicles sometimes requires a bit of creative thinking.
You have to buy those seals from an Industrial supply house. Take the old seal with you to your nearest industrial parts supplier and they will match the seal to one they have in stock. If they do not have one in stock then they can order the seals for you. I buy a lot of seals and bearings for automobiles that the auto parts stores do not sale any more. Industrial suppliers carry a lot of auto parts like seals bearings belts and gaskets etc.
