Question:

Bathroom faucet does not line up with sink drain pipe?

I bought a new bathroom vanity with a built in sink for the corner of the bathroom. When the vanity is positioned in the corner of the bathroom the sink hole is not in line with the original drain pipes. What plumbing parts/fittings are best to use to connect them? Are there flexible bending type pipes that would work?

Answer:

Snow chains go by three-figure size codes (like 0XY, where X and Y are numbers), where each chain size fits more tire-rim combinations. Your chain size appears to be 050 and it covers also 165/80-13 and 185/65-13 tires, beside your size. Chains also come in different thicknesses the once-standard 12mm (1/2) has become replaced by the 9mm (3/8) and even 7mm (1/4) chain link size (the smaller the size, the more it costs). This is critical - the chain should under no circumstances interfere with the suspension and body parts. It has become a bit more complicated with the new, low-section tires, because even the same car may be fitted with chains with some tire-rim combinations and not other. I guess this is not your case, your tire size being fairly normal. To find out, the best source is the car Manufacturer (Owner's Manual, Dealer), after that the German TUV which lists and approves allowable tire-rim combinations for most car models. Alternatives are hub-mounted claws (very expensive), wheel socks (wear out fast), winter tires (not studded) and all-season tires. In my experience, the winter tires are the best solution - most people delay putting chains on until they are stuck, which is too late. Chains require time, wear tires and suspensions, burn lots of fuel. For a snowy area, go for a train of winter tires on 4 rims - makes seasonal changes a breeze, cars handle and brake surprisingly well. There are also the four-season tires, a mixed blessing, mediocre on most surfaces.
