I'm thinking of buying wool army blankets for every window. Is that the warmest and cheapest thing?Plastic may plug up drafts, but it has never kept the house warm.
That might be a good solution, if you have a place to buy them at a good price. I usually put up a heavier curtain or drapery in the cold weather. I like to be able to open them when the sun is coming in. I also close the blinds in the evening. I don't think the plastic works all that well either. Good luck keeping warm!
no im thinking about using thick window plastic to cover my windows only.
Open the living house windows and rub some liquid detergent on the surfaces of the open factors which could meet with the body at the same time as the window is close. Then squirt some silicone contained in the corners of the fixed body previously last the living house windows carefullybut firmly. The detergent will quit the silicone from sticking to the transferring area, so at the same time as the silicone dries that is going to excellent off the hollow the position the draught is coming in, and also you should nevertheless be able to open the living house windows.ok. you may want to trim off some extra silicone. that is going to also help to purchase heavy lined thermal curtains, and save them closed on chilly days, even contained in the daylight hours, you are able to placed the lighting fixtures on in case you want it, because warmth is extra extreme priced than basic.
Sounds like you are in an old house with single pane windows. Go to Home Depot and talk to them about weather stripping your windows and doors. Check all the outlets on outside walls too. They make an insert you can put under the cover plate to stop drafts. You might look into the plastic that you heat up and it forms a tight seal on the windows. Insulated drapes would help a lot as well. Good Luck!!
