Question:

Cable going over my engine block on my ford focus?

Hi all, so I've got a cable that runs down the left side of my engine block and then loops back on itself over my engine block. Got no idea what the cable is for but the heat of my engine seems to be melting it! I've thankfully noticed it before it's done any damage to the cable itself. Could anyone suggest a solution e.g. Where I should tie it down and what with?

Answer:

You have an older focus it is the throttle cable. The newer ones have electrically controlled throttles (throttle by wire). Sorry forgot to answer the second part, use a zip tie and tie it down away from high heat (the exhaust manifold).
Ford may do some stupid stuff, but I doubt that they intend their cables to fry. I suggest you look for another car the same model year, see where the same cable is routed, or if it has a heatproof sleeve which someone has removed from yours ? A bit of sleeving shouldn't break the bank.
