Question:

Can I use lemon to make guacamole instead of lime?

I accidentally bought lemon instead of lime ): will it make a difference in the taste?

Answer:

heres one from somebody who grows lemons and limes....lemons are a slight green before getting bigger and turning yellow...limes are natural green and remain that way all the way till maturity....and if theres any doubt ill send you a pic of the ones on my tree......they were delicious
a lime is a lime, not an unripe lemon. And an unripe lime is still green.
Key limes are different. I don't have experience with other types of limes. I'm told that a lot of what we see as limes are just unripe lemons, but you can certainly taste the difference between an unripe lemon and a key lime. Unripe key limes are green.
No a lemon is a lemon and a lime is a lime but they both can do the same thing so it really does not matter. But a lemon is not green when growing and a lime is green when growing their different in color and a slightly different in taste and their both used for flavoring in the food industry and is also used in soaps, detergents and perfumes.
