I've got a maple tree that's maybe 8' height which has always been chlorotic due to iron deficiency, which is common around here. I've been pouring chelated iron around the tree but decided to pull out all the stops this summer and bought a root feeder with refills specifically for iron. So maybe 2 weeks ago, I watered/fertlilized the crap outta that tree, and now a couple days ago lightning strikes the tree and blows bark all over my yard. This is a newer neighborhood so all the trees around are more or less the same height, and few to none are as tall as a house. Is it actually plausible that I put so much iron into the ground around that maple that I turned it into a lightning rod?

So, rather than having the first unit responding to the scene of a fire and calling dispatch requesting 1 hazmat truck, two ladder trucks and a foam tanker, they would say, we need a two alarm and a three alarm unit.
