Question:

Can my laptop be used for animation?

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-4247us, and I'm looking to use it for animation and 3d modeling. I want to know if it can handle (at current specs or with upgrades/mods) the work.

Answer:

you can use any Laptop for animation but it would need a lot of memory. it does not matter about the specs. You can have the fastest computer in the world but as your scene get bigger then unless you know how to use the 3d animation program correctly your computer is likely to crash. seems like shadow and i talk about this subject everyday and people don't talk the warning to heart and then suddenly their computer crashes and they wonder why. what software are you using as i said above you can have the fastest computer in the world it does not matter about the specs of the computer. i would not get poser because it's very limited. i would download a couple of trial and see which ones you like i would start off with a small scene and see how your computer handles it, then make your scene' bigger
But strongly advise to upgrade your memory to 8GB at least, and your hard drive. Because animation and 3D modelling will require a lot of hard disk space. Or you could use external hard drive in this case.
