im gettting braces in about a month. ceramic on top and metal on bottom. and i wanted to know if you could tell if you have ceramic braces. can you see them when you smile?
yes you can see them. Ceramic braces look funny because it looks like you have demented teeth. if i were you i'd just get metal. they are cheaper, work faster, and give you a better result. you also get to pick a colour for them :)
They're visible but a lot less than metal ones. I had 'em for 3 years and liked them, well as much as anyone could like braces.
Of course people can tell you have ceramic braces! If anything, I think the ceramic braces makes people look more closely to see what those large white lumps are sitting on your teeth. If you don't take really good care of them, they turn yellow and gross looking and become REALLY obvious. Also, they are much larger than the metal brackets so if you have small lips, it is going to take a long time to get use to because they are thicker. And a huge con about them is that they take longer to move teeth compared to metal braces. I ask my patients that have ceramic brackets if they are satisfied with them and they always say that they wished that they just got the metal ones.
