For Example: I will be purchasing a new Xbox 360 very soon in addition to the old one that I also have. I was wondering if, with a Data migration kit or a data transfer cable, I could take the map packs, as well as downloadable content I have on my current Xbox 360 and give it to my new one.
The data transfer kit will move everything from one 360 HDD to the other. The only exceptions are things like rented movies from XBL marketplace. Just make sure you don't use the new HDD until after you do the transfer, since the transfer completely overwrites everything on the new HDD. The old one will be completely clean after the transfer too. This means that your map packs and game add ons will no longer be on the old HDD, and you won't be able to use them. If you are wanting to use the map packs for 2 different Gamertags without buying them again, the easiest way to do it is to simply recover your GT to your new HDD, and re download them. They will then be on both 360s, and because they are licensed to your old one, anyone using the 360 should be able to use them.
You can't transfer em via cable but if you use the same live account you can download them again.
