Question:

Car Audio helpneed new speakers?

I got an 1998 Audi A4 and the bose factory speakers are blown out, i have tweeters in the front two doors, 3-1/2's in the rear doors and 6-1/2's on the rear deck. I dont know much about speakers so i was wondering what kinds of speakers could i buy that give me the same quality the bose ones did, and where i can find them. Help would be great, thanks guys

Answer:

Pull your factory speakers out and check them first. Most of the factory Bose systems use 2 ohm speakers and all Bose systems are factory amplified. Almost ALL aftermarket speakers are only made in 4 ohm. It won't hurt to replace 2 ohm speakers with 4 ohm but you WILL lose sound quality and volume. The only way to avoid this is to get factory Bose speakers from an Audi dealership or replace the entire stereo system with aftermarket equipment. You can get by with interfacing the factory head unit to an aftermarket amplifier and speakers so you can keep the stock head unit.
