Question:

Car tires.Performance, High Performance, and Touring tires--What is the difference between them?

My present 1999 Toyota Solara SLE V6 has performance all season tires.(Bridgestone RE 92) What differences might I expect to find when driving my car, if I switch to HIGH PERFORMANCE--verses Touring tires--or perhaps another brand of performance tire like Goodyear etc? I need a set of new tires soon. I have been very happy with the RE 92 Bridgestones but they have not worn particularly well. Thanks.

Answer:

A Grand Touring tire will have a softer ride probably better winter traction than the high performance tire all season tire.
Performance tires are specialty tires that customers choose to enhance the look and low speed traction of their vehicles. High Performance tire design extends high speed handling and stability. Touring tires feature enhanced performance blended with excellent ride quality. High Performance tires will have more of a softer tread compounds for better traction with an emphasis on maximum contact patch. The Touring tires give you a better ride comfort and lower noise. Cooper's Zeon ZPT are an excellent value in an H-rated high performance tire design.
