Question:

central ac bearings in fan blower motor?

can thet be replaced, and how do you do it?

Answer:

I can’t imagine anyone trying to replace the bearings / sleeves in an electric motor. If you hire it done the cost would be prohibitive if you try to do it yourself with limited knowledge the chances of being successful are very remote. Remove the motor and take it to grangers or any place that has replacement motors in your area and they can match it up Cap and all. Your done ! enough said.
Well, it involves, of course taking the fan motor out, and dismantling the aperture. Then simply making sure the correct bearing gets seated well in the end of each end of the stator housing. -Alot easier than it sounds.... Now,.... there ARE bearing sets that can be oiled and have a small little oil plug that is easy to see, however, if they are gummed up and need to be replaced, the way to go with replacements would be a sealed maintenance free set... (edit) the electrician IS correct; the newer fan motors are alot cheaper than they once were, but unless the squirrel cage is missing blades or cannot be balanced, re-use it. Clean it very well.....
Its easy! Then again the time you would waste tracking bearing and replacing. You could have changed the motor. Its cheaper to replace the motor than try and repair it if you ask me. You can get a ball bearing motor for under 130 bucks. Remember if you do replace the motor THIS IS IMPORTANT you need to get the correct capacitor for the new motor. They should tell you or you can ask where you order it from what cap it takes. And do not beat on the motor shaft to loosen it. Youll be sorry. Use a good penetrating lube. I like PB Plaster. Then if you want so in 10 years when you have to do it again light coat the shaft with antiseize. LOL
Blower Motor Bearings
Simply replace your fan motor as they are not that expensive. There's no need to replace the squirrel cage unless it is damaged.I would spend the extra few dollars and get one with ball bearings instead of the sleeve bearing type. They last much longer.
