Auto Zone tells me after OBD scanner that I may need an Air Filter.or could be fuses (probably not), or a connection hose may be loose.What is an AIR FILTER, is it expensive, and can my SMOG man do the repair ?
if guys at autozone knew how to diagnose driveability problem they would be making more then minium wage. take it to some one that knows what they are doing or atleast get the number of the code and post it.
P0410 is the generic code for Secondary air injection system malfunction. It is not related to the efficiency of the air filter. The valves on the air pump may be faulty, or switched electrically, and there may be a bad switch. Whatever, your SMOG man can do the repair. Check the warranty on Emissions related parts, because they are required and are longer than other warranties. If you are still within the mileage limits, take it to the dealer and you won't have to pay.
Hi, how are ya? I am an auto technician. I just wanted to give you some info on your problem. Depending on the vehicle, this code typically means the secondary air pump is not working, or more realistically, the computer does not THINK it is working. The air pump is an electric pump that supplies fresh air into the exhaust system to reduce emissions. There are several possibilities here that could be causing this. For example, the pump could be bad, the fuse for the pump can be blown, the electrical relay could be bad, the hoses from the pump to the exhaust could be broken or cracked, or a bad wiring connection anywhere in the circuit. My point is this. Your best bet is to get this addressed at a reputable repair shop, that specializes in drivability and diagnostics. Auto Zone may be good at some things, NONE of these is diagnosing cars!!! It is not likely the air filter itself could be causing this problem. The air filter is the part that catches the dirt in the air that is entering the engine. Some vehicles take the air for the air pump after the air filter so if the filter is plugged, or coming apart this may cause an issue, but that is doubtful. The filter should be replaced about every 15000 miles or so. Hopefully this gives you a better idea on what is going on. If you have anymore questions, just let me know. Good luck.
