cold air intake question???
i didnt look at the link but it shouldnt be much different. the most important thing is the location of the filter. you want to keep it as far away from the heat source as possible. if its the same length/shape of the kn/injen then i say go for it. its not going to add a lot of horsepower though. probably not even noticeable.
Like the other post mentioned - it is not a true cold air intake, since its not isolated from the engine compartment. You'll ingest warmer engine air. I generally suspect a generic fit intake advertised as a true CAI. I also mistrust a site that does not have anything to back up their promises of both a better filtration and more power. While the elbow and connector may be good, I wouldn't trust my engine to a generic performance filter like this. And here's the facts about the CAI kits - they will give you power, but only give you any real gains in the upper rpm range. If your jimmy is an automatic, you will not notice any significant increase in power from a CAI, since your car shifts well before the point where a CAI improves the airflow to a significant degree. You may actually only get 1-2 hp in midrange - hardly noticeable. You will notice the noise out of a system like this - the intake noise will feed back out of the filter - it may make your gmc sound faster, but it won't exactly be faster. If it were my gmc, I'd spend my money on a KN filter that fits in my stock airbox - it'll give you a little bit better gas mileage and a similar power increase in the lower ranges (i.e., 1-2 hp). And I would save my money for the first big mod, which would be a freer flowing exhaust - guaranteed to give you better power numbers.
Its not an actual cold air intake .It has no actual cold air box to capture cold air. but it will make you truck breath better. If you live in calif. You will have to take it of and put the stock one back on to get it smogged! Its not legal in calif.
